If you are a fan of explosive skill position players, the chances are pretty high you will enjoy watching the Cole Valley Christian Chargers play football this fall.

The Chargers are led by First Team All-WIC running back Obi Gee and First Team All-WIC wide receiver Brady Frame, a duo which is sure to give headaches to opposing defensive coordinators throughout the season.

“We have many weapons on offense and need to keep those weapons healthy. Our run game will continue to improve as Obi Gee comes into his junior year as one of the fastest players in the state and the development of our number two running back in Garrett Kranz is going to play a huge factor sharing the load on [the ground] with our explosive offense. We had lots of success this off season at the BSU team camp and are very, very excited as our offense continues to evolve,” said head coach Dan Reece.

Dylan Krogh is a player to watch from the receiver position as a compliment to Frame.

It helps that the Chargers have loads of athletes who have varsity experience back on the offensive end of the ball.

“We have so much more experience on offense this year and that will pay dividends in close games. We are returning eight starters on offense,” added Reece.

Cole Valley held all but one opponent below 27 points last season, with the back end of the defense looking like a formidable unit entering the new campaign.

“Our defensive backs will be our strength. We have lots of defensive speed this year and will be making a few adjustments to make it easier on our players to line up and just play football,” said Reece.

In order to avoid a similar fate of multiple tight losses like a year ago, the coach is hoping for improved production in stopping the run.

“We were a good defense last year, but not great. We will be focusing on stopping the run and short yardage [situations] to kill drives and keep our offense on the field.”

There isn’t much question that there is enough talent on the roster to challenge for the 2A WIC regular season title. While the talent will help in a lot of ways, the Chargers will need to also stay healthy and be able to finish games strong.

“Last year we finished 4-4. Three of our four losses were by an average of six points or less. With more experience and confidence coming off our most successful BSU team camp, our players are hungry and ready to compete for the WIC title this year. Our junior wide receiver Brady Frame was recognized as one of the three outstanding wide receivers at the BSU team camp and will continue to be a key player for us this year,” added Reece.

Frame and the Chargers begin the season by traveling to take on Payette and Wendell in the first two weeks. Cole Valley will utilize multiple sites for home games this year, including Mountain View and Bishop Kelly.
