PRESEASON COACHES POLL
1. Declo
2. Wendell

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Mattie Ramsey, Declo
Brooke Olsen, Declo

In the first season on the sideline at Declo for Heather Gibby, the Hornets came one win away from a trip to the 2A state tournament, something they have aspirations to reach this time around under new head coach Ashley Baker.

Baker’s team is led by returning talents Mattie Ramsey and Brooke Olsen, each of which has the ability to fill up the basket with points in a hurry.

In order to improve upon the nine win campaign from last season, Declo will need that duo to continue to improve coming off of strong seasons a year ago.

Defense should be a strength for the Hornets, with a gritty group in place that will look to outwork opponents on a nightly basis.

Wendell won five games last season and is in rebuilding mode as they look to get back to a state tournament appearance for the first time since 2016.

Points were hard to come by for the Trojans last season, eclipsing 50 points just twice. In order to add to the win total that will be one of the top priorities for second year head coach Robert Lamm.

With Olivia Gines, Robin Moreno and Jackie Hollenbeck all having graduated, Lamm will need some new faces to step up in a big way.

Declo and Wendell play each other on December 13 and January 15.
