Team Preview:

Being led by guards Hunter Hartwig, Alex Simpkins, and Jakobe Haggerty (all seniors), Coach Kevin Wylie will be looking to make a turnaround in his third season at the helm. Confidence is how they plan to attack this season. Returning six seniors will assist with the cause.

Being in a tough division that has been controlled by Kellogg the past three seasons, Coach Wylie is ready and looks to battle Kellogg with a few dates circled on the calendar. What Priest River can’t do is over look any other opponent they face on their way to the clash with Kellogg.

Coach Wylie will be leaning on Simpkins, who is a strong two-way player and will help provide some offense from outside. Hartwig is the name on opponent’s rosters that will be drawing attention. Being a strong offensive threat, Hartwig will be creating and using his supporting cast, including Simpkins and Haggerty, to find more balance attacks.

It is important for Priest River to go into every game being confident. Helping that confidence will be minimizing turnovers and controlling the ball and tempo. That and second chance point which will be led by post Thomas Luckey. Those are the ingredients needed to be successful on offense.

If the offense can get going like Coach Wylie anticipates, improving on the defensive side of the ball with the full court pressure will only improve the confident of this squad. With defenders like Simpkins, Tommy Anselmo, and Anthony Storro, Priest River looks to put the clamps down on opponents and secure the boards.

Just like most teams around the State of Idaho, the pieces are there for this team. Coach Wylie and staff just need to put the puzzle together for this team. They believe they have it and it all comes back to confidence every day for this group.
