It's been a rough few years for Idaho Falls High School.

Since their last state tournament appearance in March 2011, the Tigers have endured quite a few trips to the loss column. In the last three years, Idaho Falls has won 12 total games (an average of four wins per season), including an 0-22 season in 2012-13.

Enter Howard Hart.

Hart becomes the Tigers third head coach in as many seasons at Idaho Falls, replacing John Tucker who took the Bonneville head coaching position.

He knows there is a lot of work to be done. Fortunately, his players all all up for it.

"The players are very excited for the season," Hart said. "I certainly hope to be able to help these young men learn more than just the game of basketball along the way."

With their team motto of 'Team Together', Hart has a few pieces returning to the squad that saw a lot of time on the court last season.

Zach Bowser and Connor Cammack, who led the Tigers in a number of statistical categories, return for the 2014-15 edition of the Tigers. Chase Peterson, Adam Craig, and Stockton Despot also return for Idaho Falls.

Hart said that the biggest factor for his team this year could simply be the atmosphere surrounding the team.

"It's all about marinating a team attitude throughout the season," he said.

Coach Hart knows that the process will not happen overnight, but that he hopes he can help his alma mater and get them back on the path to respectability.

"I went to school here and have been teaching here for 15 years," he said.

Idaho Falls will face a tough 5A District 5-6 conference, with Highland returning a solid core of players, Skyline and Hillcrest much improved, an always steady Madison, and Bonneville filling the role of 'new-kids-on-the-block' looking to make some noise.
