Head Coach: Gina Ihli

Years as Head Coach: 1st

Previous Experience: Middle school girls basketball

Who do you have coming back this year?
Senior Sarah Post #10, Junior Taya Wilson 12, Soph Faith Ihli 15

Any “Key Players” that you lost from last year?
Madison Johnson our outside shooter and ball handler and Andrea Gooding, our strong post and defender inside.

Do you have any new incoming “impact” players?
Sarah is a power house, powerful player, able to score, handle the ball and rebound. Taya Wilson, has a nice 3 shot and is gaining experience and confidence in her ball handling. Faith Ihli, nice outside shot, she can work inside posting up. Look for great things from these girls this year.
As a team, what are your offensive strengths?
We have some great 3 shooters (Sarah, Taya, Faith) and have some height. Our strengths are hustle, attitude and working as a team. Our team moto this year is unity, we are stronger because of every player.

Offensive areas you hope to improve on over last year:
Last years team has some extraordinary talent and we relied heavily on individuals. We have to rely on each other all the time. No one player brings it all BUT everyone brings one or two or three pieces. As we put those pieces together and learn to trust each other, our team just gets better and better.

As a team, what are your defensive strengths?
Inside we have Melissa Butler, she’s strong on defensive boards and blocking shots. Outside we have Taya Wilson and Sky Lujan with some quickness in reading the passes and making steals.

Defensive Areas you hope to improve on over last year:
Last years team was defensively tough, this year we are in the process of improving our man-man game.

Does your team have a motto/theme for the upcoming season?
Unity- Together Every Achieves More

What are you most excited about in regards to this year’s team?
Growth potential. We are an inexperienced varsity team. Our skill levels increase dramatically over just a few days. It’s a great feeling to look back and say, “Wow, just a few days ago we couldn’t do this, and now it’s solid!” It’s so exciting to see how much these girls are capable of learning.

Besides the pay, the fame and the glory, why do you coach high school basketball?
Who would not want to spend time with these amazing ladies? Their work ethic inspires me to be a better off the court. They work this hard in all aspects of their lives. The good of being from a small school is they can be involved in a wide variety of school functions and they are involved! They rock this valley on the basketball court and the music hall, the drama room, and in student council.

What makes your school the best place to coach for?
We’re family here.
