Any “Key Players” that you lost from last year?
Mikayla Harris – center – GBC player of the year(coaches poll)/All-Idaho 2nd team/GBC 1st team (media poll) – 6’3” with good hands, could block and alter shots inside
Haley Hutchinson – forward – 2nd team all conference (coaches poll) – defensive quickness, could finish at the rim

As a team, what are your offensive strengths?
Kaitlyn Merritt – senior point guard who has been leading our offense since she was a sophomore; Regan Harr – junior guard/forward who loves to compete and has a deep understanding of the game
Kaiya Moffit – senior post who saw limited time behind Harris, but can rebound well and jump
Offensive areas you hope to improve on over last year:
Learning discipline in when to fast break and when to have patience
Continuing to hone a new offense and finding ways to counter defensive adjustments against it
As a team, what are your defensive strengths?
Maddie Watkins – a defensive stopper, pt guard’s worst nightmare; we play great team defense – it’s one of our trademarks
Defensive Areas you hope to improve on over last year:
Consistency in intensity for the duration of the game; recognizing that the team is responsible for stopping the ball
Does your team have a motto/theme for the upcoming season?
If you are not prepared to put the team first, turn around; there is not one of us as strong as all of us.
What are you most excited about in regards to this year’s team?
Academically superior team who has been playing together since grade school; girls who truly care for one another on and off the court; a team who loves to compete; senior leadership second to none
For the fans, what is the must-see game of the year on your schedule?
I think our game at Burley on Dec 5 will be a defining game for us. Beating them on their floor was difficult for us last year.
What is the ‘X-Factor’ to having success this season as a team?
Cashing in on the team chemistry of 7 seniors – and getting all 11 girls to work together for the “team”, not for individual gain.
If you could change one rule in high school basketball, what would it be?
Adding a shot clock to girl’s basketball would really change the game and add a new dimension. I think it might be good to give it another look.
Besides the pay, the fame and the glory, why do you coach high school basketball?
I love to teach what I am passionate about. Growing up the daughter of a 12-year NBA veteran helped provide a “basketball is life” environment and instill a deep understanding and love of the game beyond playing it. I consider it a challenge and I love challenges.
What makes your school the best place to coach for?
Excellent, supportive administration and fellow coaches, parents who support the coaches, and players who work hard and are coachable.
