Who do you have coming back this year?
Great crop of returning young players. Jack Simon, P,12,5’11”; Issac Simon, F, 11, 6’2”; Jordan Moore P, 11, 6’1”; Chris Eaton, F,11,6’1”; Eric Peterson F,10,5’11”.

Any “Key Players” that you lost from last year?
Davey Knolton – Forward. Good shooter and great team motivator. His enthusiasm and skills will be missed this season.

Do you have any new incoming “impact” players?
Issac Simon – Forward 11, 6’2”. He will be one of our most skilled players and one to watch this season. Placing at State track in 2012 in the high jump along with his natural athleticism, he will be a major part of this year’s success.
As a team, what are your offensive strengths?
We will have decent height with 3 starters over 6’ this season. Our main focus will be to take high percentage shots and using our height to score down low.

Offensive areas you hope to improve on over last year:
We will be a more fundamentally sound and patient offensive team this year.

As a team, what are your defensive strengths?
As a young team we are still developing our defensive strengths. Look for us to work harder and play more team defensive team.

Defensive Areas you hope to improve on over last year:
We were soft and slow defensively last season. Our focus this year will be to build our defensive instincts, toughness and tenacity in our man to man defense.

What are you most excited about in regards to this year’s team?
This is a rebuilding year with lots of returning players from last year’s young team. We are going to be quicker, stronger and more fundamentally sound than last year. I think we’ll surprise many of our opponents who remember us from last year.

For the fans, what is the must-see game of the year on your schedule?
There isn’t a particularly poignant game this season as they’ll all be tough and challenging for us as a young team. Coming off of last year’s difficult season, each game will be an important building as we use the progression of the season to build our skills, toughness and a winning season.

What is the ‘X-Factor’ to having success this season as a team?
Our x-Factor this year will be how much patience the team decides to exercise. Without a doubt, the more patience we exercise, the more success we’ll have executing and the more games we’ll win.

Besides the pay, the fame and the glory, why do you coach high school basketball?
I coach because I want to give back to the team, school and community that taught me so much when I was growing up and playing at CCHS.

What makes your school the best place to coach for?
Camas County has a small, but extremely dedicated group of fans, students and players. Combined with an athletic history dating from the late 20’s, nearly everyone in the community has some personal interest in the school’s athletic teams. With such a dedicated fan base, it’s a great place to coach!
