After a year of 6-man football, Timberline-Weippe has built up some strength in numbers and developed a team to be excited about this upcoming fall.

“Last year was a grind playing 6-man, but it really helped to develop the core group we were looking for,” said head coach Patrick Christopherson.

A quick glance at the roster shows a surplus of sophomores and juniors, with senior linebacker Andrew Anderson the elder statesman of that group.

It should come as no surprise that there will be plenty of opportunities for every player on the roster to be integral pieces on each side of the ball.

The offense is a group that displayed improvement as last year went on and hopes to build on that in the new campaign.

“Our offensive line led by Jaron Christopherson protecting Chase Hunter at quarterback will be key to our success. Every game last year Chase showed tremendous growth and leadership and we are very excited for this year,” added coach Christopherson.

Junior wide receiver Rylan Larson and freshman running back and wide receiver Parker Brown are two newcomers who could make a positive impact as well.

Defensively, the front line of Christopherson, Jordan Stewart and Devon Wentland will team with the linebacker tandem of Hunter and Anderson and the defensive backfield of Micha Nelson and Jason Mohl to form the unit that looks to slow down the opposition.

The coach says making sure everyone is flowing hard to the ball is the key to success for the group.

With the new coach ready to enter his second season, the hope is that the numbers can continue to grow, something that is pivotal to the success of 8-man football programs.

Christopherson will lead his team out on to the field for the first time on August 30 at Clearwater Valley.
