Coming off a 6-2 campaign in 2015, the hopes were high for the Tri-Valley Titans last season as well. While the 3-5 mark that ensued was not exactly what the hope was entering the year, plenty of positives can be taken away that will benefit the program moving forward.

Perhaps the best thing going for Head Coach Bob Johnson's team is the return of up to 14 seniors, ranking among the largest senior classes of any 1A program in Idaho.

All-Conference selections in backfield mates Collin Kindall and Haden Kuta and the passing game combination of quarterback Jaden Mink and receiver Chip Mitchell should help keep the Titans in games on a weekly basis.

Offensively the strength is obvious.

"A veteran line to go along with a basic I-Formation," said Johnson.

He hopes to see better ball security and consistency to take the next step.

On the other side of the ball, Tri-Valley has the ability to outmuscle teams with a big front.

Tyler Rasmussen is one of the big bodies that will help anchor the defensive line, with All-Conference honoree from a year ago Orion Southwick ready to make a big impact yet again from the linebacker position.

"[We have] size up front to go along with a 3-4 alignment," said Johnson.

Defending the pass and tackling are emphasis areas for improvement for the Titans.

In order to get into the top tier of the conference again, the defense has to have a big year. For Johnson, it is one of the x-factors for a successful year.

"No serious injuries and having a great defensive effort each game."

From top to bottom, the 1AD2 Long Pin looks to be a wide-open league.

"Our conference will be very competitive this year so we have a number of games that will be 'must see'," added Johnson.

With some quality returners, Salmon River should be the clear favorite in conference play, with a great battle behind them to see how the rest of the final standings will shake out.
