Team Preview

Written by: Brandon McIntosh

Entering his second season as the head coach at Logos, Brent Belschner understands to process of Logos basketball. Having only 2 wins last year, Belschner knows improving that record is priority number one. This season the probability of that looks pretty good.

He returns six players-senior Regan Meyer, juniors Maddie Wintz and Gracie Belschner, and sophomores Rosie Meyer, Bea Whitling, and Shania Hughes-all who saw significant playing time last season.

Coach Belschner commends his team’s approach. “This team is consistently working hard and have bought into the system. We have a long way to go, but everyone is optimistic and will not be discouraged by the inevitable setbacks along the way.”

Hiccups will happen, but the progress will be seen more often. Coach Belschner has set out some realistic goals for his team-commit to developing an efficient offense and learn to work together on defense whether in man or zone. Numerical goals are to out rebound opponents and cut down on the average of 22 turnovers per game from a year ago.

His ball-handlers are improving and so is his inside game. Logos is one of the tallest teams in the league, if not the area. Logos needs to properly utilize the size. The tallest player is 6’1” sophomore Bea Whittling who will be busy battling the top bigs in the league on a nightly basis.

With complete confidence in his big, “If Bea Whittling continues to grow and improve and outplay other big, Logos will surprise teams.”
Trying to improve along the way, Logos is putting in the work needed. If it all comes together by District time, Logos could make some noise.
