Under seventh year Head Coach Roger Caresia, Burley made a return to the state tournament last season, falling in the first game of the tournament but rebounding nicely with back-to-back wins to take the consolation title.

Player of the Year Kortney Hutchison has graduated, meaning the Bobcats will need a total team effort to continue forward with the success that was built during her time on the hardwood.

Fortunately for Caresia, he thinks one of the big strengths of his new group is the experience and depth.

Second Team All-Conference honoree Sydney Pilling will look to handle a heavy bulk of the scoring load, with Honorable Mention All-Conference player Hallie Cook a good bet to see her offensive totals increase as well.

"Our post play should be solid and [our] outside shooting," said Caresia.

The post play will be of the utmost importance as the Bobcats look to continue the physical style of play they are known for.

Last season Burley did not take as much control on the boards as you would expect them to, and that is a major area of emphasis entering the new season. The success of the season will depend heavily on how the team improves, especially when it comes to getting second opportunities on the offensive glass.

Caresia is excited that he has a group of players who are eager to play on both sides of the ball, leading to what should be a solid defensive team.

Burley will run the floor when the opportunity is there, but for the most part the offense will run from the inside-out, placing a huge importance on the interior players.

The x-factor for a successful season is simple.

"Being consistent on both ends of the floor and taking care of the ball," said Caresia.
