Team Preview:

For two years, coach Ray Stout has been on the sidelines serving as an assistant coach. This season, he is taking over the Genesee Bulldogs. Having a comfort level with the team and a veteran squad, Stout seems to have the ship headed in the right direction.

With plenty of shooting ability and quickness, Stout’s team will be looking to get out and score. He will have plenty of scoring options to choose from with veteran players like senior guard Trevor Stout, Garrett Borth, and Jake Demeerleer. They are among the seven returners Coach Stout will have this season. Having so many scoring options, Coach Stout looks to improve the scoring total of his team. He wants to increase the output and force teams to out shoot the Bulldogs and attempt to keep up.

In order for the Bulldogs to get up and down the court and have opportunities to score in bunches, the defense will have to come alive. The quickness that this team possesses could pay off by creating more scoring opportunities and more opponent mistakes.

We will have to play with a toughness. Our success will be determined by how hard we play at the defensive end,” says Coach Ray Stout.

The Bulldogs will not only be focusing on creating turnovers, but must make rebounding a priority. Along with that, not giving up easy baskets will be solved with team communication on the court.
“We have great depth this season,” says Stout. “What makes us even more dangerous is the willingness of every player to be coached.”

And with the coachability will hopefully bring the wins. In conference, Stout’s goal is simple. He wants to simply win more games than anyone else in the conference.

Genesee has a tradition of making State appearances. Stout is motivated, along with his seniors, to continue the tradition. Standing in the way is a pretty tough league. Lapwai (made two straight championship appearances), Prairie (has made several themselves), and Troy all looking to represent the Whitepine at the State Tournament.

For Stout and his Bulldogs, the season looks bright if they play together and follow their coach’s every word. Look for the Dogs to get back and improve on their consolation lose last season. Bulldog fans will be in for a ride under the direction of Ray Stout.
