As a team, what are your offensive strengths?
We have some athletic skill players who have the potential to make big plays.

Offensive areas you hope to improve on over last year:
Our offensive line, which will be the key to our offensive success.

As a team, what are your defensive strengths?
Again, our athletic skill players have the potential to have an impact.

Defensive Areas you hope to improve on over last year:
We need to improve in all areas of our defensive game over last year.

What are you most excited about in regards to this year’s team?
There is a lot of potential in this team. Although we will be very young and inexperienced, if the kids can play as a team, there is a good foundation for growth this season.

What is the ‘X-Factor’ to having success this season as a team?
If we can stay healthy and grow week-by-week, we have the potential to be very competitive this season.

If you could change one rule in high school football, what would it be?
Eliminate holding. Holding basically happens to one degree or another on every play and the timing of a call or no call sometimes has tremendous impact on a game. Except for blatant tackling or pulling to the ground of a non-ball carrier, let the players hand fight out of the grasp.

Besides the pay, the fame and the glory, why do you coach high school football?
Pay, fame, glory??? When did I start coaching in Texas? Football, more than any other activity, teaches life lessons to young people that they will take and apply throughout their lives. It teaches all of the clichés: team, hard work, perseverance, discipline, mental and physical toughness, etc…, and having the opportunity to have such a life-long impact on so many lives is something that most people don’t get outside of their immediate family.
