The Timberline Wolves prowled their way to a state tournament berth last season, but dropped their first two games of the tournament and finished with a 13-12 record to cap off a successful first year run for head coach Bruce Logsdon.

Entering his second year as head coach, Logsdon leads a varsity experienced, senior-laden roster, that has state tournament and close-game playoff experience.

This season Timberline returns seven seniors that include top scorer (12ppg), senior guard, Gibson Berryhill, senior forward (10ppg), Bryce Honser, senior forward (9ppg), Ben Salcines, senior point guard, Isaiah Fisher, senior guard Tristan Field, and senior guard, Chauncee Mallory. The Wolves lost three key players to graduation last season, Andrew Briggs, Corey Krueger, and Kamron Myers.

Entering the season Timberline has a team to make a state championship run, but will need to improve and sharpen their claws if they want to compete for one.

When I asked Coach Logsdon on what they can improve from last season he said, “Things we need to improve upon this year are: We need to defend with greater pressure, share the ball, make the extra pass to hit an open man, rebound better, and we must shoot a higher percentage than we did last year. Our goal for the season is to continually improve in all facets of our game and win a state championship.”

Consistency is something the Wolves struggled with last season.

They would go on a streak and win a few games and then go on another streak and lose a few games. Timberline will be very balanced on both ends of the floor this season, but if the Wolves can stay healthy and play with more consistency they will be in the mix for a district championship and will be a team in the hunt for a state championship.

Timberline will be part of a tough “pod A” in the Southern Idaho Conference and will have to battle with foes Borah and Capital twice this season. Look for Timberline to be very strong this season and a fun team to get out and watch. They will be in the mix this season and should make a run in the state tournament.

GAMES TO WATCH: Timberline will play Borah and Capital twice this season and could very well meet in district playoffs. Timberline looks to get a little revenge against Capital, after Capital beat them in the first round of the state tournament last season. They will play each other on January 21, 2015 @ Timberline and February 6, 2015 @ Capital. The Borah games will be played on December 27, 2014 @ Borah and February 10, 2015 @ Timberline.
