Any “Key Players” that you lost from last year?
Alyssa Case G/W She is a Junior and started for us last year, she provides quickness out front and ball handling, she transferred, Sierra Koyle she graduated at G/W she provided speed great defense and shot the ball well, Cassidy Ferrill she graduated at P she was a force in the middle she rebounded well and had great post moves inside. Played big on the boards and rebounding.

Do you have any new incoming “impact” players?
We have 2-3 players that could be big impact players and make a difference for our team from the get go. They have potential to pick up where we left off last year.

As a team, what are your offensive strengths?
We are a faced paced offense that likes to push the ball and create off of the break and off of dribble penetration. People who give us that strength will be Katie Hughes and jenna Jarolimek while they are both big girls have very quick and fast first steps providing teams matchup problems as they can shoot from outside, take you to the basket, or post you up. While they create you Anna Williams who is very quick and can penetrate and likes to dish or distribute the cross court pass as she has great arm strength. Sarah sharp provides height in the middle getting lots of put backs on offense and keeps the ball alive. She also can score from the inside. Three of these four can bring the ball up the court at any time if needed. Our focus will be to push the ball attack and create off of the defensive rebound or steals. We are an attack offense looking to score from anywhere on the court making teams play defense. We want lots of movement to create open lanes to score or shoot. We are focused on our zone offense as we think that teams will play a lot of zone against us because of the size and speed that we will carry this year.

Offensive areas you hope to improve on over last year:
We spent our off season and summer ball working on a zone set that will help the offense break teams down. I also look to have a bigger and better presence from the three point area as we have been working on the 18-3pt shots all throughout the off season. Reduce the amount of turnovers on the offensive side of the ball will be a key for us.

As a team, what are your defensive strengths?
We are looking to put pressure on the ball. We like to run different set defense to try and confuse the offense. We will be in and out of full court, half court, zone, and man to man defenses. Strengths are we are able to lock down on the ball both full and half court. We make a mess in the middle with our size and height from Sarah Sharp, Katie Hughes and Jenna Jarolimek looks to be tough with their shot blocking ability and there size. Katie Hughes and Anna Williams are great defenders on ball. Look for them to give ball handlers trouble. We are looking to control the boards by only 1 shot attempt. We are working on creating turnovers in the half court set that we can convert. We want to take teams out of their normal routine. Look for us to go big and go small.

Defensive Areas you hope to improve on over last year:
We are working on our defense with the traps. We really want to trap the corners. Keeping the ball out of the other teams main dribblers hand will be a focus. Pressure, Pressure and more Pressure for 32 minutes is our goal.

Does your team have a motto/theme for the upcoming season?
Our motto is FOREVER STORNG, the team motto is Respect our Past Fear our Future, and our theme is ONE MORE

What are you most excited about in regards to this year’s team?
We are returning some great players from last year. We are going to be a faced pace big team that can run and jump. It will be fun to watch because we look to push the ball and score at all times by all players. Our team is poised to be aggressive and to take charge of each game we play. We play an exciting brand of basketball that people will want to get a taste of because we are unselfish and are always looking to the open person for the score. We support each other and stay FOREVER STRONG.

For the fans, what is the must-see game of the year on your schedule?
Conference is always fun. But for the whole schedule out of conference I would say it would be the Marsh Valley, Twin Falls, and Burley for the must see games. They are usually intense and exciting.

What is the ‘X-Factor’ to having success this season as a team?
How well we come together as a team to trust and communicate each other on the court. We have to have people understand their roles on the team and to play that role like they own it. We are a team and must support each other. Injuries are probably the biggest and that is to stay away from having an injury or injuries with players.

If you could change one rule in high school basketball, what would it be?
The high school rule to change I would bring in the shot clock to the game. It would speed it up and make players and team get better. If they brought it in with 35 seconds I think you would see a better game. A clock running makes kids and team get better.

Besides the pay, the fame and the glory, why do you coach high school basketball?
As Coach of the Lady Filer Wildcats, I, along with my staff, strive to help woman athletes learn to play the game of basketball not only on the court but to play the game of life. We strive to give these woman athletes more than just basketball- we try to grow them into young, multi-talented woman, when they leave the Wildcat basketball program. It is a way for me to stay involved with the game of basketball and give back to the youth and community that I am involved with. For this we will always be FOREVER STRONG!

What makes your school the best place to coach for?
At Filer High School I was given a chance to coach, the school and along with the administration and school board have allowed me to coach and do things outside the box. They have allowed me to be myself as a coach but helping guide me along the way. The support from the fans and my players is outstanding. We have lots of kids wanting to play the game while we have great crowds that follow the girls close and travel with the team. It great to be a wildcat in Filer.
