Things did not quite go according to plan for Wallace on the football field last year, with the lone victory coming in week one in a 62-24 thumping of Lakeside.

After that season opening win, the Miners struggled mightily on both sides of the ball and in the health department, something that had also happened the year prior during a season ending six-game losing streak.

Following the 62 points against Lakeside, Wallace put up a combined 46 points the rest of the way in 2018, including falling victim to four shutouts.

The defense yielded 38 or more points in each of those losses as well.

It will be a new look immediately both for the Miners and as far as opponents go, with the schedule now consisting of teams out of the 1AD2 North Star League instead of the 1AD1 White Pine League, something which should help competitively.

As far as the talent pool goes, junior wide receiver and defensive back Carter Bailey is one of the standouts, with Logan Hull, Kody Richardson and Alex Field joining him as pass catching options.

Gary Gunderson and Colton Pentland are a pair of guards that should be expected to lead the way for the offensive line.

Finding a replacement for Erik Brackebusch at quarterback will be an important line of business, as the Miners transition to some younger talent that is coming up through the program.

Wallace will be hoping to see some strides in the right direction on the field this season on both sides of the ball against competition that will include Kootenai, Lakeside, Mullan and Clark Fork. The Miners will play each of those teams twice.
