NNU Baseball: Saige Tyndall Joins Crusaders, Adds Depth On The Hill

NAMPA, Idaho — Continuing to bolster a line-up that played for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference title in May, the Crusaders added another talented and experienced arm to their bullpen.

Head baseball coach Rocke Musgraves is pleased to announce the signing of junior-college transfer Saige Tyndall, who will join the Northwest Nazarene baseball team for practice this fall and make his NNU debut as a junior in the spring of 2016.

Tyndall, a product of Bothell High School in Bothell, Wash., played two seasons at Treasure Valley Community College (Ore.) where he pitched in 14 games in relief during his sophomore season. He also saw time at first base as a freshman, and as a designated hitter this past spring for the Chukars.

“When you get players from the Treasure Valley Community College baseball program, you know they’ll be prepared,” Musgraves said. “TVCC (head) Coach (Aaron) Sutton and his staff have a great reputation for player development.

On the hill, Tyndall compiled a 1-1 record with one save and a 4.35 ERA in 20 2-3 innings of work while striking out 10 opposing batters.

“Saige especially impressed us at the NWAC tournament,” NNU’s coach said. “He works quickly and shows a fast arm with the ability to throw multiple pitches for strikes.

“He also wants the ball in big spots and competes his tail off.”

At the plate, in limited at-bats over two seasons, he hit .212 with two home runs and 14 RBIs for the Chukars.

Along with being an experienced arm that adds depth to the Crusader baseball team, Tyndall also is a standout student who was named to the spring 2015 honor roll at TVCC.
