Team Preview

Scott Stockwell will be taking over the Coeur d’Alene Viking program following the retirement of Dale Poffenroth. Stockwell spent the past five years as an assistant under his father with the Lakeland boys. Stockwell will have his hands full beginning the rebuilding process as the Vikings found themselves finishing last in the league last season.

The Vikings will be leaning on sophomore post Kelly Horning who was voted the 5A Inland Empire League Player of the Year. Horning will be joined by seniors Kayla Fagan, Taryn Horvath, and Isabella Hollibaugh.

Stockwell will have his hands full changing the player’s approach. He is working to get his players to make more basketball decisions and reading the defense and what they have to offer. As of this moment, the team has begun the uphill climb and are buying in to what Coach Stockwell would like to see.

Stockwell is hopeful in the development of the new system that is player friendly. The road won’t be easy as the must fight through tough Lake City, up and coming Post Falls, and ready to go Lewiston. Give this team some time to gel and figure out the new system.
